CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS
Created in 1981 by Jean Marie Boursicot, The Night of the Ad Eaters quickly conquered France and the rest of the world. More than 100 cities throughout the world sign on to the tour annually, from Tokyo to Paris, including as well Moscow, Santiago de Chile, Mexico City, Hong Kong or Geneva...

1981
The first night, named Friandises ("Candies"), took place at the Kinopanorama. Five reels were presented made up of advertising films and trailers, dating from 1935 to 1981. Breakfast was included in the show. This first adventure became a success, THE NIGHT OF THE ADEATERS® was born.
1982
Second year at the Kinopanorama. The audience becoming ever more numerous, two nights had to be organized. The show was renewed up to 99%, which has stayed an unchangeable rule. We presented 3 films which have become the classics of the Publivores : Fiat 131 with Bob, Perrier "La Main" and Ploum Ploum.
1984
The Grand Rex opens its doors to us : 8 hours of screening, four breaks with entertainment on stage, the bulk of the program is made up of retro adverts and, for the first time, we presented a silent film from 1904 : Moët & Chandon. THE NIGHT OF THE ADEATERS sets out on a tour : Lyon, Bordeaux, Milan and Geneva.
1985
Two nights at the Grand Rex. The Fairy Fountains display opens the show. Munich and the Avignon Festival are added to the tour.
1986
Three nights at the Grand Rex. The audience continues to swell and become involved in the show which turns interactive. Brussels and Amsterdam fill out the tour.
1987
Four nights at the Grand Rex. For the first time, the saga of brands enthuses the audience. We present the histories of Eram, of Impulse and a panorama of detergents around the world. The trailer reels disappear from THE NIGHT OF THE ADEATERS and exist in their own right in a new show : THE NIGHT OF THE TRAILERS, intended for an audience of connoisseur film fans.

1988
United Colors of Benetton sponsors the program, which enables us to present to the audience a panorama of perfumes throughout the world as well as the stories of Woolite, Chanel and Gervais. The tour grows : East and West Berlin.
1989
THE NIGHT OF THE ADEATERS holds its "revolution" for two nights at the Zénith. Themes presented : choreography and advertising, Indian cinema and local advertising.
Histories : Levi's and Dim. Montreal, Quebec, Sydney, La Réunion, Bilbao, Boston and Chicago join the tour.
1990
Tenth NIGHT OF THE ADEATERS. For this great festival, the Palais des Congrès welcomes us. The risk was huge, but so was the success. A new city : London.
First televised broadcast of the show : Canal+ devoted a full night to us.
1992
Athens and Warsaw are the new cities of the tour. This time it was France 2 which rebroadcast THE NIGHT OF THE ADEATERS in the context of the 25th hour, the audience playing a full part in the show.

1993
The program includes ever more films from the Eastern countries, and Asia offers us the most interesting creations.
1994
Jakarta, Moscow and St Petersburg allow us to expand our international tour. THE NIGHT OF THE ADEATERS pays homage to two humanitarian organizations : Amnesty International and Greenpeace. Australian and South African creations dominate international production.
1995
Over 200.000 spectators worldwide, and new cities : Hong Kong, Bucharest, Copenhagen and Beyrouth. Perrier becomes the official sponsor of the French tour.
1996
The Night of the Adeaters extends its roadshows to Asia. The People's Repuplic of China and the Philippines welcome the event for the first time. Presentation of the first advertising film of movie history, dating back from 1898. Perrier remains the faithful partner of the event.

1997
Yugoslavia and the People's Republic of China are extensively representated in the Night of the Adeaters, Mexico City and Bangkok welcome the event!
1998
www.nightoftheadeaters.com website broadcasts the Night of the Adeaters all around the world, Advertising films celebrate their 100th birthday, Miko becomes the main sponsor of the event in France.
1999
Nineteenth year of the Magnum Night of the Adeaters, Circus is advertising too... The Baltic Republics make their firts appearance, Mongolia and Iceland welcome the event. Jean Marie Boursicot Movie Library is moving to the roof of the famous "Grand Rex" movie theater.
2000
Jean Marie Boursicot Movie Library celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Magnum Night of the Adeaters, along with the French Republic Horseguards, Paris City Hall, and a magical guest star, Chantal Goya, during three exceptional evenings at the Grand Rex. For the first time ever, Iraq welcomes the event with a huge success. Japan joins the big family of the Adeaters.

2001
The first Night of the third Millenium offers its aficionados four enchanting evenings at the Grand Rex : 2000 will be the year of the Adeaters ! The People's Republic of China is the guest of honour with an exceptional programme. For the first time, French and foreign associations of advertising professionals become active partners of the Night of the Adeaters, aknowledging and saluting this world-renowned event. At last, the Advertising Control Bureau (BVP), opens its doors and archives, offering us a large number of forbidden films. Korea, Taiwan, Macao and Malaysia join the Night of the Adeaters, which travels to Monaco and makes its grand come-back to Belgrade, after a few difficult years.
2002
The 22nd “Night of the Ad Eaters®” is broadcast on TF1, beating audience records despite being shown late at night. It then tours the Arab countries (Dubai, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Algeria). Hungary and South America are featured in the program. Finally, the Jean Marie Boursicot Cinematheque launches the First International Ad Eaters Grand Prix, getting audiences around the world to vote for their favorite advertising film.
2003
Fans of the Night of the Ad Eaters® from all over the world – increasingly numerous – vote a second time for their favorite advertising film, which receives an award in Paris. At the same time as the French and international tour of The Night of the Ad Eaters®, the Jean-Marie Boursicot Cinematheque develops new projects, such as the French-language Advertising Night – a program presented in over 40 countries in the context of “French-language Week”, celebrated annually in March. Chile and Canada are very present in the program, while La Nuit prepares to conquer South America. The The Night of the Ad Eaters® welcomes Playstation and UCPA as partners for the French tour.

2004
The international presence of the Jean Marie Boursicot Cinematheque grows stronger, due to the development of the French-language Advertising Night, now shown in more than 80 cities. The Jean Marie Boursicot Cinematheque produces new video products and TV shows. The Night of the Ad Eaters® continues to be highly successful in Eastern Europe (35 cities in Russia) and Asia (5 cities in Japan, five cities in China, plus Hong Kong, Singapore and Macao). La Nuit makes its debut in Africa and India. Madagascar welcomes the show for the first time.
2005
The Night of the Ad Eaters® celebrates its 25th birthday at the Grand Rex, with a roster of exceptional artists, appearing in a program lasting over 10 hours. The international tour continues to expand in Latin America (in Chile) and continues its success in the Middle East, where the shows increase in number.
The Night of the Ad Eaters® makes a triumphal return in Belgium, with two crazy shows at the prestigious the Brussels Royal Circus!
The French-language Advertising Night, still showing in dozens of countries, is broadcast on France’s TV5 Monde. The Nuit is exhibited on the prestigious Champs Elysées, at the Atelier Renault, for a three-month period.
OFF WE GO AGAIN… FOR 25 YEARS!
In July 2005, the Jean Marie Boursicot Cinematheque sets up its offices and film archives in Switzerland. Benefiting from no public or private subsidy, relocating the Cinematheque is essential given the need to create the best conditions to guarantee the permanence of this rare and exceptional cinematographic collection and its main program: the Night of the Ad Eaters®.
The challenge is formidable for the Jean Marie Boursicot Cinematheque. It must strike a balance between financial and economic realities and its commitment to a veritable flowering of cultures in diversity, in an attempt to contribute to a form of globalization where respect for others and a love of cultural exchange prevail.
2006
The Night of the Ad Eaters® promotes a major Swiss tour in about ten cities and appears in new countries: Norway, Argentina and Taiwan.
It is also successful in Asia (China, Japan and Korea), in Russia and the Middle East, conquering more and more new cities.
The Lancia brand becomes the European partner of the event.
The Jean Marie Boursicot Cinematheque undertakes the massive task of digitalizing the 900,000 titles in its collection.
2007
The Night of the Ad Eaters® honors the cinema during its soirées at Paris’s Grand Rex movie theater and decides to offer awards to two talented French directors, Patrice Leconte and Jan Kounen, who had also lent their talents to advertising. Nuit makes its return to Portugal, Great Britain and Spain and is welcomed for the first time in Norway.
2008
The year’s first premiere takes place in Moscow in April. Wim Wenders and Michel Gondry are honored in the program and during the Grand Rex event in November.
From Minsk to Nouméa, from Vladivostok to Mexico, 135 cities welcome the worldwide tour.
2009
The NIGHT OF THE AD EATERS® sets out to conquer the United States of America, with a grand première in New York on September 25, followed by a U.S. tour
2010
The NIGHT OF THE AD EATERS® celebrates its 30th anniversary!
